I was behind a Jeep stopped at a red light, and the passenger door opened. A woman leaned out and said, “Excuse me, Mr. Biker, can I ask you a question?” Seriously, that’s how she addressed me.
“Yes ma’am.”
“Do bicycles have to stop at stop signs?” she asked. Here it comes, I thought. I hadn’t run any, so I was pretty sure I wasn’t at fault.
“Yes ma’am, we do.”
Her eyes opened wide and she covered her mouth. “Oops. You just made a liar out of me. I just told my son bikes ALWAYS have the right of way.” The light turned green, she closed the door, and they pulled away. That has to be the rarest of misconceptions.
